Inside clinical trials to evaluate Dengue vaccine candidates in Colombia, Brazil and Mexico: Actors, networks, regulations, and functionality of the system
Sara Valencia received her degree in Biology from the University CES in Colombia, and right now is a PhD student at the University of Edinburgh at the program of Science and Technological studies, funded by COLCIENCIAS. Sara ́s research project focuses on knowledge management and strategies implemented by sponsors, Site Management Organizations, and research sites conducting multinational clinical trials in Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico to evaluate vaccines, and how the social and regulatory context reshape the data production in each country during the trial. Her work includes discussions about how knowledge transformed and used by clinical sites during multinational offshored knowledge-based projects, how clinical trials on vaccines have promoted the creation of research capabilities in Latin America, and the need for a harmonized regulatory regime in Latin America to conduct Clinical trials.
