Pediatric Oncofertility: Ethical Challenges
Angel Petropanagos is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Novel Tech Ethics in the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University. She received her Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Western Ontario and specializes in bioethics and feminist theory. Project Description: Angel's research aims to identify and assesses the social (normative and structural) barriers that can impede ethical decision making for researchers, health care providers, patients, and families. Her current project focuses on decision making about the use of fertility preservation technologies, which are increasingly used by patients in the cancer context to guard against disease-related infertility. She is particularly interested in the use of ovarian and testicular tissue freezing technologies for children with cancer. Her work examines the the ethical and social implications of offering these experimental fertility preservation technologies to children.
