Cultural diversity in medical practice - a handbook for health care professionals
Tatjana’s research focuses on migrant-friendly-care especially in regard to clinical ethics consultation as well as the (advanced) training of medical students and clinical staff in cross-cultural competence. The latter aspect is the focus of the project, which she worked on during her stay at the Brocher Froundation in collaboration with Tim Peters.
Tatjana Grützmann completed her degree in Philosophy, Cultural Studies of Central Asia and Anglistics at the University of Bonn (Germany) and currently does her PhD dissertation research on “Cross-cultural Ethical Conflicts in Medical Practice” at the Institute of History, Theory and Ethics in Medicine (RWTH University of Aachen, Germany). From 2008-2009 she participated as a researcher in a project on “Advance Directives in Emergency Situations” at the University Clinic Aachen, where she is also a member of the Clinical Ethics Committee since 2008. In 2011 Tatjana and her project partner Tim Peters initiated a task group on “Cultural Diversity in Medical Practice” (Interkulturalität in der medizinischen Praxis) located at the Academy for Ethics in Medicine (Germany).
