Psychotherapists' Frameworks for Understanding Abortion and Mental Health: Implications for clinical practice, psychological research, and reproductive justice
Jessica Chavez received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the New School for Social Research in New York, NY. She completed her Internship in Health Service Psychology and a Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania. She recently relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana and will begin a position as a postdoctoral fellow at Counseling and Psychological Services at Tulane University in September 2016. As a researcher, Jessica has used qualitative methods to better understand and address social injustices and to investigate intersections between health, gender, and race. In recent years, her interests have turned to reproductive justice movements, the stratification of abortion access, and abortion experiences. She is currently researching the ways that anti-abortion movements in the United States use psychological concepts to argue that abortion is harmful, as well as the everyday practices of psychologists that relate to abortion and other aspects of reproduction.
