New approaches to the availability of experimental treatments in the United States and the United Kingdom: a comparative legal and ethical analysis
Denise Meyerson completed a BA at the University of the Witwatersrand, before studying at Oxford, where she graduated with a B Phil and a D Phil in Philosophy. She also holds an LLB from the University of Cape Town. She is a Professor of Law in the Law School at Macquarie University. Denise researches in the area of law, human rights and justice. Her project at the Brocher Foundation concerns recent legislative initiatives aimed at expanding access to innovative treatments. Her research will evaluate (a) an attempt in the United Kingdom to reform the law of medical negligence so as to encourage innovation and (b) the “Right to Try” laws in the United States arising out of the demand for terminally ill patients to access medical products that are still undergoing evaluation for safety and efficacy.
