Arguing Against the Future
Our residency will contribute to a larger book project on novel technology ethics aimed at the OUP book series “Issues in Biomedical Ethics” (John Harris and Søren Holm, ed.). During the residency, the applicants will coauthor two book chapters. These chapters deal specifically with the connection between appeals to justice, and appeals to equality in novel technology ethics; and with equality and justice as action guiding principles in novel technology ethics. During the residency, the applicants will also conduct research on a series of case studies on novel technology ethics that rely on claims about the moral weight of justice and equality. It is here that the residency will be most beneficial, as the Foundation’s other scholars in residence will provide for otherwise unavailable opportunities to discuss cases in biomedical ethics with people from other backgrounds. Before departing, these cases will be outlined in detail.
I am a political philosopher who works in the context of medical ethics
