Sick, Feeble, and Fornicating: Health Issues in Postcolonial Philippines and Indonesia Under American Gaze, 1945–1980s
Aaron Rom O. Moralina is a PhD candidate in the Department of History, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He received his MA in history degree from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines where he also taught undergraduate courses on twentieth century Philippines. Since coming to Hawai'i for his PhD studies in 2012, Aaron has been a teaching assistant for World history courses and has developed an interest on fields like U.S. foreign relations, Southeast Asian history, and Modern China. He has published his works in academic journals including Philippine Studies and the Philippine Population Review. Aaron joins the Brocher Foundation to work on a dissertation about the influence of U.S. expert knowledge in the distribution and use of public health technologies such as insecticides, antibiotics, and food enrichment in Cold War Philippines and Indonesia. He will also conduct archival and literature research at the WHO archives and library.
