Commercial Determinants of Health

The Working Group on the Commercial Determinants of Health at the World Health Organization, based in Geneva, is a clearinghouse for decades of work done looking at how public health considers commercial and corporate activity as upstream drivers of (especially chronic) health effects. This workshop will compare cases from across bioethics and public health to investigate shared best practices as well as common challenges in tackling this driver of heath and disease. By bringing together professionals working in various fields but with a shared orientation towards rationalizing commercial influences on health behavior and exposures, this workshop will compose a research program and collective thesis on how to address this major factor determining health.
