Moral, Conceptual and Practical Considerations of Resource Allocation for the Global Tuberculosis Response.
The main objective related to the Brocher residency is to finish my dissertation research fieldwork in Geneva and to write two chapters for my PhD dissertation. The main expected outcome will be completion of the “Introduction” and “Literature Review” chapters of my PhD dissertation.
As for my dissertation research project, there are three specific objectives that will guide my fieldwork and analysis during the Brocher residency. The first objective is to map the history of the scientific and public health response to TB along the continuum of colonial, international and global health knowledge and interventions, paying attention to the role of evidence. My second objective is to examine political-economic relations and interactions between transnational networks of institutions, actors, interests and ideas in the decision-making process on global TB funding, financing and policy priorities. The third objective is to explore the moral constructs through which donors and recipient organizations in the global TB community understand their relationships to one another and how this directs the flow and meaning of global health monies for TB response.
