Ethical dilemmas at the margins of agency Julie Tannenbaum received her doctorate degree from University of California, Los Angeles. She was also postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health. She is currently an assistant professor of philosophy at Pomona College. Julie’s research falls into two areas of ethics: ethical theory and bioethics. Her work in ethical theory focuses on the role of emotions in moral action, the conditions for having and satisfying one’s moral obligations, moral luck, and the categorization of goods. Her work in bioethics includes such topics as the moral status of babies and severely cognitively impaired human beings, the impact of neuro-enhancement drugs on living a good life, and medical error.
