The contribution of a community based HIV counseling and testing (HCT) initiative in working towards increasing access to HIV counseling and testing in Cape Town, South Africa.
Sue-Ann Meehan received her master’s degree from University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Currently she is registered as a PhD student at Stellenbosch University, where she also works as the Principal Investigator of an HIV prevention project within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. Sue-Ann’s research interests fall within the area of access to health services. Her current work looks at increasing access to HIV prevention initiatives using community-based approaches. Her work incorporates integrating biomedical, behavioural and structural interventions and looks at access along the dimensions of availability (accessibility), acceptability and affordability. Sue-Ann enjoys operational research which can enable policy change and health system strengthening within the health services. She also has an interest in health economics.
