The Ethics of 'Winning Hearts and Minds': Humanitarian Assistance Missions & Military Medical Ethics
Sheena M. Eagan Chamberlin received her doctoral degree from the Institute for the Medical Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch. Currently, she is teaching active duty soldiers and their families as part of the faculty of philosophy at the University of Maryland University College, Europe. Sheena’s research at the Brocher Foundation focuses on military medical ethics. This work specifically examines humanitarian assistance missions in the United States Army and the problem of dual loyalties; exploring the unique ethical dilemmas of the military physician as a member of two distinct professions. Her larger body of work and research examines other issues in military medical ethics to include professional development and identity, public health policy and post-traumatic stress disorder.
