A comparison of psychosocial aspects of living and deceased donor kidney donation in children and adolescents aged 6-18 years
Jenny Prüfe started her professional career as a General Nurse before doing a diploma in rehabilitation sciences and special needs education at the University of Dortmund (Germany). After having worked in the after-care of children suffering from severe brain injuries in Münster (Germany), she continued her education at the University of Cambridge (UK) where she completed her MPhil in Social and Developmental Psychology in 2008. Jenny is currently a PhD candidate in Psychology at the Centre for Family Research, University of Cambridge. Her work focuses on the psycho-social aspects of kidney transplantation during childhood and adolescence. She is interested to learn how children with chronic renal disease stage 5 and their families cope with this condition. Moreover, she is researching the decision making process for or against living related donation and what this is influenced by. Besides her studies, Jenny has gained practical experience working in Psychiatry as well as in special needs education where she worked with socially and emotionally disturbed children. During her stay at the Fondation Brocher Jenny concentrates on writing up her PhD thesis. Furthermore she is working on several publications related to her work.
