Commercialisation of the human body and its parts
Dr. Bianka S. Doerr is senior research and teaching assistant and lecturer at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich (Switzerland). Born and raised in Germany, she studied law at the Philipps-University in Marburg (1st State Exam 1999) and the University of East Anglia in Norwich (LL.M. 1998) and received her PhD in 2002 from the University of Zurich. From 2002-2003 she worked as Junior Associate in the Information Technology, Intellectual Property and Competition Law team of an International Law Firm in Zurich and is admitted to the Bar in Zurich and Switzerland since 2006. In 2008 she was a Visiting Research Fellow at the King’s College in London.
Bianka’s research focus is on private law, biomedical and health law and comparative law. At the Fondation Brocher she is doing research for a monograph concerning issues of the commercialization of the human body and especially works on the question of property and ownership of the human body from a comparative perspective.
