The proposed workshop,"Clinical Trial Recruitment: Problems, Misconceptions, and Possible Solutions," is a 3½-day results-oriented conference to explore innovation in recruitment to clinical trials and to examine the ethical and legal challenges to innovative recruitment strategies. The workshop will take up such issues as compensation to participants, appropriate uses of financial incentives for referrals, demographic targeting in recruitment (e.g. recruitment from specific age or ethnic populations), use of social media, and retention strategies. Given the potential value of learning from an international exchange of ideas, practices, and strategies, the Brocher Foundation offers an ideal setting for this workshop on innovation in recruitment to clinical trials.
